Die Wohnung

An apartment in Tel Aviv, a piece of Berlin in the middle of Israel. Gerda Tuchler and her husband Kurt lived here for 70 years after they had to flee the Holocaust in Germany. They discarded nothing. After her death at the age of 98, the family meets to break up the household. Among numerous letters, photos and documents, they discover traces of an unknown past: the Jewish grandparents were close friends with the family of the SS officer Leopold von Mildenstein. The filmmaker and grandson, Arnon Goldfinger, and his mother take up an angry and courageous fight against the boxes, the dust, the antique dealers, the family, the past and the present, suppression and truth. 97 min., 2011, Israel /Germany, original German version, partially with German subtitles
